The Masland Library is no longer hiring for Spring 2026 but we continue to receive applications for Summer and Fall.
Student Workers are integral to the work of the library. Each year, the Masland Library employs approximately 20 students.
Duties may include:
- Staffing the front desk
- Assisting patrons in finding and using library resources
- Shelving materials
- Helping patrons with technology questions and supporting staff with data entry and office duties
These roles provide valuable hands-on experience in a supportive academic environment while contributing directly to the library's daily operations and patron success.
When can you expect to start? We review applications on a rolling basis year-round, but most student worker positions begin at the start of a semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer) to allow sufficient time for interviews, on-boarding, and comprehensive training.
If your application is submitted mid-semester (e.g., several weeks in), the hiring process typically takes 1–3 weeks or more, meaning a start date would fall late in the current term—if at all. Because of the significant training required, we rarely make mid-semester hires unless the candidate is an exceptional fit.
We strongly prefer applicants who can commit to ongoing employment across multiple semesters (and academic years, where eligible). Summer-only interest (e.g., primarily for housing) is usually not accommodated due to the training investment—please only select Summer if you're genuinely open to continuing into the following fall semester.
