- Abstract:
The authors reflect on the four recent prospective studies regarding the association between childhood antibiotic treatment and the subsequent development of respiratory illness. They explore the findings of the studies that there is a positive association between antibiotics and respiratory illness in childhood but no indication for reverse causation, and the supporting reports on the studies. They also suggest a hypothesis-driven research relative to the topic.
