    • Abstract:
The author reflects on technological innovations that affect privacy and on their impact on personal freedom. He suggests that while surveillance may be everywhere, evidence that it is actually effective in improving security is very thin. He argues that while the innovations are not all bad, people should still be concerned about whether the changing state of privacy related to them is making them more safe or less happy.
