    • Abstract:
The article informs on the survey that investigated the attitudes and attributes of nonrelative family foster caregivers and kinship caregivers for children adjudicated dependent and placed by a state public child welfare agency. The practice of kinship care, regarded as the placement of children with relatives has become a chosen placement for children entering out-of-home care in the child protective service system. While kinship care is often treated as more desirable placement in nonrelative public agency family foster homes, diminutive research has been conducted to reveal the factors of kinship care, or on its relative strengths and weaknesses. It is important that public policy concerning the placement of children be directed by knowledge of the kinship and foster care system.
