    • Abstract:
The author examines the relationship between Orthodoxy and the state from the start of the reign of Prince Cuza in 1859 to the creation of Greater Romania in 1918 during the reign of King Ferdinand. The author argues that the state benefited by including religion on its national policy and Orthodoxy was used as a political tool because it confirmed the historical legitimacy of the state and fulfilled the construction of national myths.
