    • Abstract:
The Y chromosome, formerly thought to be on the downward spiral, evolutionarily-speaking, may have a unique survival strategy, and contain more functioning genes than previously thought, according to two reports. Not to disappoint women, fuller knowledge of the Y chromosome could lead eventually to better insights into male behavior. In the first report, the scientists sequenced and analyzed the 95 percent of the male chromosome known to have no X-Y crossover. Ironically, the survival strategy might also lead to infertility. The conversion could predispose the genes to deletions.
