    • Abstract:
Discusses results of a series of studies on the physics behind the harpsichord. Study of the frequency-response curves and eigenmode patterns of a number of harpsichords; Prediction of the kinds of eigenmodes that occur in the wedge-shaped room of the instrument by referring to the mathematical theory of waves; Tendency for a high modal density of the soundboard to ensure that a large percentage of string partials will excite a board or on air mode, or both.
